10 Lessons of The Prodigal Son

The lessons of the prodigal son is a reminder of God’s love for his children. Though the prodigal son left his father and pursued a wild lifestyle, the father still forgave him. The father even hosted a celebration when he came home.

Overall, we have all fallen short of the glory of God due to sin. Yet, God forgives us. Therefore, we should rejoice at the goodness of God.

The Parable of The Prodigal Son Summary

In Luke 15:15-31, there was a father that had two sons. Each son was to receive a portion of their father’s wealth. The youngest son asked to receive his money immediately. So, the father divided the value of his estate and gave it to the sons.

Then, the younger son left his father’s house and went to a distant country. During his time there, the younger son spent all his money because he was living a lavish and reckless lifestyle. After he had spent everything, there was famine in the land and he was in desperate need.

To earn money, he got a job taking care of pigs. During this time, it was one of the most degrading and low paying job. The son eventually realizes that his father is forgiving. And he can return home to his father’s wealth and goodness.

While returning home, the father saw him from a far distance walking back. The father ran towards him, then greeted him with a kiss and a hug. The son felt unworthy of the father’s love and replied:

“Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

However, the father continued to celebrate his son’s return. The father said to his servants: “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.”

Meanwhile, the older brother was working in the field. When he heard the music and his father told him of the lavish preparations for the youngest son, he became angry. So, the father pleaded with him to attend the event. However the eldest son replied: “Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!

In reply, the father said: “My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

10 Lessons of The Prodigal Son

1. God pursues all of us equally.

The story of the prodigal son beautifully illustrates how God’s love is unwavering and reaches out to everyone, no matter their struggles. The youngest son represents those who fall into lust, greed, rebellion, and shame. Meanwhile, the eldest son reflects those who choose God but struggle with jealousy, ungratefulness, and a sense of entitlement due to their good deeds. Despite both of their flaws, the father’s love remains constant. He actively pursues both sons, offering grace and reconciliation. This parable echoes the truth that we all have fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23), yet He loves and pursues us all equally.

2. You can’t earn God’s love.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

God loves all of His children equally. In the parable of the prodigal son, the eldest son remained and worked hard, but that wasn’t why God loved him. God loved him for who he was inside and because he was simply His son. The older son, however, felt he deserved more than his younger brother because he had done more. He found his worth and identity in perfectionism and deeds.

Similarly, our actions don’t make God love us more or bless us more. God’s love is unconditional and doesn’t change based on what we do or don’t do. This is echoed in the parable of the workers in the vineyard, where each laborer received the same wage, regardless of how long they worked.

3. God is forgiving and merciful.

Just as the father of the prodigal son rejoiced at his son’s return, God also celebrates when sinners, the lost, and backsliders come back to Him. He doesn’t hold our past against us; instead, He waits patiently with open arms for our return. Remember, “…God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” (Luke 15:3-10)

4. God’s character and love is consistent.

From Genesis to Revelation, every story in the Bible reflects God’s unwavering love. The parable of the prodigal son is one of many examples, illustrating how God, like the father, lovingly embraces sinners who return to Him, despite their mistakes and worldly pursuits.

This message is repeated throughout Scripture. Time and again, God extends forgiveness, keeps His promises, and pursues His people with love. His ultimate act of love is seen in John 3:16“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Every story points back to this constant truth — God’s love never fails.

5. Christians can cause their own problems.

The prodigal son had a good life. He was well taken care of and had an amazing family. However, that wasn’t enough for him. The son still chose to pursue the world rather than righteousness, family, and stability. This demonstrates that when we turn away from God’s love we can step into hardship due to our own choices and temptations. However, like the son, we can turn back (repent) and be accepted back at any time.

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.” (James 1:13-14)

6. The world doesn’t satisfy.

The things of the world can never satisfy our longings. For instance, lust cannot be filled by gaining what you desire. Instead, the emptiness within your soul can only be filled with a relationship with God.

Similarly, In the story of the prodigal son, the son believed that the pleasures and treasures of the world would fulfill him more than his father’s provision. He left his home and wasted his inheritance on worldly pursuits, only to find himself empty and longing for what he once had.

7. God is enough.

Similar to the prodigal son, many Christians may fall into the trap of seeking fulfillment in worldly things rather than trusting in God’s sufficiency. They may chase after people, possessions, or wealth, believing these will satisfy their needs.

However, they eventually discover that true fulfillment can only be found in God. Just as the prodigal son realized the emptiness of his pursuits and returned to his father’s loving embrace, Christians come to understand that God alone is enough to satisfy their deepest longings.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. (John 4:13-14)

8. Without God, we can enter a spiritual drought and famine.

When the son left his father’s house, he lived on his riches for a while, but then he ran out. Then, “after he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.” However, despite the famine, the father still had riches despite giving the sons their inheritance.

Similarly, when we stray from the Bible and God’s voice we enter into a spiritual drought. Our souls are in constant need and without God, we will become thirsty. Without God, our thirst will cause us to seek people, objects, activities, and money, but these will never truly satisfy us. When we recognize that only God can quench our spiritual thirst, He will be waiting with open arms. Remember, God never runs out of what we need.

9. Condemnation is not from God.

The father didn’t spend time belittling his son and trying to shame him. He knew that the son was returning because he had learnt his lesson. God is similar. When we repent and acknowledge our sins, He moves on.

Do you feel unworthy due to sin and ungodly thoughts? Well, that’s not okay. Conviction and condemnation are not the same. You can feel remorse for sin, but you shouldn’t feel dirty or believe God loves you less because of it. Jesus didn’t die for you to have painful flashbacks and burdensome shame. (1 John 3:32 Corinthians 7:10)

10. Don’t Fear Punishment.

When the prodigal son was taken back by his father, he may have constantly thought about his past mistakes. Have you ever been forgiven but still felt undeserving? That fear stems from doubt in both yourself and in God’s forgiveness of your sins.

Remember the wise words found in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” Believers have been fully forgiven of their sins. Those who truly fellowship with Christ live for Him and need not fear future punishment. Fear indicates an incomplete or immature relationship with God.

11. BONUS: The Truth Will Set Your Free

The story of the Prodigal Son highlights important truths we need to face. Often, when we avoid dealing with these truths, they resurface and create problems in our lives. Ignoring or avoiding these truths can lead to ongoing conflict, personal dissatisfaction, and spiritual stagnation.

  • The Prodigal Son had to accept the truth about himself before he was ready to return home: he had lived recklessly, caused his own troubles, and needed forgiveness. He recognized that he was not a perfect son and had to face his mistakes. If he had continued to ignore these truths, he would have remained lost and distant from his family, unable to heal or grow.
  • The older brother had to understand that, even though he was doing the right things, his heart was not as pure as he thought—it was tainted by jealousy and anger. Avoiding this truth would have kept him in a state of resentment, unable to celebrate his brother’s return and unable to experience the true understanding of unconditional love.
  • The father had to accept that both of his children were emotionally immature and that his role was to guide them, not control them—even if it meant giving the Prodigal Son his share of the inheritance early, knowing he might squander it. He wasn’t a bad father, nor had he done anything wrong to cause his sons’ issues; it was simply part of their personal journey. Ignoring this truth would have meant overlooking the heart issues of his sons. Hiding from this reality would have led to ongoing family dysfunction and prevented genuine reconciliation and growth.

As John 8:32 says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Facing and accepting these truths allowed the family to heal and move forward. Embracing these truths leads to real freedom and personal growth, allowing us to move forward with greater understanding and peace.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the story of the prodigal son serves as a powerful reminder of God’s unwavering love and pursuit. Despite the son’s departure and reckless living, the father’s love remained steadfast, welcoming him back with open arms and a celebratory feast. This parable beautifully illustrates that nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Even when we walk away or stray from His path, God continues to pursue us with His grace and mercy. Our spiritual journey may lead us through droughts and famines, but God’s love is always constant and abundant. As Romans 8:38-39 assures us, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No matter how far we drift or how lost we feel, God is ever-ready to welcome us back and shower us with His unconditional love. We simply need to be open to receiving it. Let us rejoice in the goodness of God, knowing that His love is always available and that He never runs out of what we need.

How to Deal With A Prideful Wife

Prideful women tend to operate in a covert or overt manner.

The overt prideful woman is easier to identify because her behaviors are flamboyant and obvious. Overt pride manifests in aggressive and obvious behaviors. Such behaviors may leave you feeling small, less manly, and insignificant.

While the covert woman‘s behaviors are hidden and hard to explain. This makes it hard to identify her level of pride because her behavior is passive-aggressive and subtle. These behaviors may leave you feeling crazy and thinking you’re being over sensitive.

What are the causes of pride?

Here are a few of the underlying causes and signs of a prideful wife:

  • Trying to fix everything: A prideful wife believes she has all the answers and can do everything better than others. This may stem from a fear which causes her to control. Or she may feel powerful when she has control and when she’s better than others.

Here are 38 Signs other signs of pride in a person.

How to Deal With A Prideful Wife

Being involved with a prideful woman can be very tricky. Generally, women are seen as the victims in difficult relationships, so this can cause the man to look guilty immediately. In addition, being with a prideful woman can be even more complicated because she may not know she’s operating in pride. Her lack of behavioral awareness maybe due to a blindspot.

1. Identify the problem

Take a moment to identify what your wife’s behaviors are and when they occur. This will help you recognize patterns in her behavior and feel less confused. Additionally, trying to understand her behaviors will help you seek effective support to deal with the problems.

  • Pay Attention: Watch how your wife acts in different situations.
  • Stay Open-Minded: Don’t assume things, just observe without judging.
  • Take Notes: Write down when you notice certain odd behaviors.
  • Remember When: Note the times when these behaviors happen.
  • Look for Repeats: Check if the same behaviors happen again and again.
  • Think About Why: Consider if there’s anything that triggers these behaviors.
  • Stick to Facts: Focus on what you actually see, not what you think it means.
  • Notice More: Watch for these behaviors happening more than once.

2. Communicate with your wife

When you’re ready, have a talk with your wife. Tell her you’ve noticed some things and you want to understand her better so both of you can grow.

When you talk to your wife, remember good communication matters. Share your feelings honestly and kindly, and listen to what she says. Make sure you’re not attacking or being unkind. Check if your own pride might be making things harder. If you did something wrong, it’s okay to apologize – it can help both of you understand each other better.

Also, pay attention to how she acts and talks. Be cautious if she starts saying hurtful things or blaming you for everything without considering your feelings. Watch out for these signs to keep the conversation on track.

3. Trust yourself

Your wife may change the way events or things you said happened (distort reality) based on her level of pride. She may be unaware of her behavior, unwilling to change, and/or unable to see the truth. The truth might be too painful for her to hear. She may bring up everything you’ve done wrong.

Your wife may have an exaggerated view of her abilities or accomplishments, or she may minimize her mistakes or shortcomings. She may twist facts and events to fit her own version of reality and deny the reality of others. For example, she may deny making hurtful comments and/or blame you for her mistakes. Her distortions may lead to confusion, misunderstandings, and conflicts in your relationship.

Essentially, she may use manipulation, control, dominance, lying, blame-shifting, a victim mentality, gas-lighting, abuse, and other toxic strategies to deal with the situation.

4. Seek professional help

If your wife doesn’t see how she is adding to the relational problems then it’s time to seek outside help. Seeking individual and couple’s counseling is ideal. Essentially, you both need your own therapists to help address how you are adding to the problem. Then a couple’s counselor will help you both work together to address the problems.

Professional help can provide valuable insight into the root causes of your relationship conflicts. It’s possible that your partner’s isn’t struggling with pride, but may be frustrated with your behavior, which may have caused her to lose trust and respect of you. In this case, couple’s counseling can help address these underlying issues and work towards restoring your partner’s confidence in you.

5. Be Humble

It may be difficult to help your wife recognize her pride if you’re struggling with your own pride. You need to make sure that you’re not simply blaming your significant other for everything that’s going wrong in your relationship without considering your own contribution to the problem.

If you can’t identify any areas where you could improve or recognize any of your own negative behaviors, it’s possible that you have a blind spot when it comes to your own pride. It’s important to be honest with yourself and examine your own behavior, even if it’s uncomfortable or difficult to do so. Remember that thinking you’re more emotionally mature than your wife can also be a sign of pride.

Take this pride test to find out if you are struggling with pride.

What are blindspots?

When we enter into a relationship, it’s easy to assume that we know ourselves and our partners well. However, we eventually realize that everyone has their unique way of thinking, behaving, and communicating.

Good Therapy defines a blind spot as an area where a person fails to exercise judgment, awareness, or perspective. In a relationship, a blind spot can refer to any area that a person fails to recognize as impacting their relationship either negatively or as a needed growth area.

The challenge with blind spots is that they can lead to communication difficulties and heated arguments. The issue is we often don’t know when we are operating from a blind spot. Instead, we tend to blame the other person and focus on their wrongs because we aren’t able to see our unhealthy behaviors accurately. Many of us have grown up seeing our unhealthy behaviors, so we subconsciously view them as normal. Seeking the help of a therapist can assist in identifying blind spots and addressing unhealthy behaviors in a relationship.

Most of us have grown up seeing our unhealthy behaviors, so we subconsciously find it NORMAL.

What are the causes of blindspot?

To reduce the negative effects of blind spots, we must learn to accept that we don’t know everything, that our behaviors affect others differently, and that we always have room for growth. This mindset shift can dramatically improve our relationships. Here are 7 causes of blind spots:

1. People are unique and think differently: Our cultures, age, income bracket, intellect, gender, family trauma, childhood experiences, and other differences affect how we communicate and how we perceive what others communicate.

2. Unhealthy behaviors: Our way of coping with emotions can be unhealthy if we have never learned healthy tools. Unfortunately, some people don’t know that they are using unhealthy tools, and they think it’s normal and okay to communicate with toxic strategies.

3. Emotional needs: you may want to feel loved, safe, and support, but you don’t know how to get your needs met in the right way. This can cause us to throw a childlike tantrum to force our partner to appease us. Withdrawal, numbing, and avoidance are also unhealthy coping mechanisms.

4. Un-forgiveness: if you are still harboring anger towards someone you will interpret everything the other person is saying or doing from an emotionally charged perspective. And your partner can hear the unforgiveness in your words and behavior! I know it’s hard, but if you want healthy relationships you have to let go of whatever you’re holding against them or YOURSELF!

5. Lack of vulnerability: Some people may retreat when it’s time to be vulnerable because of their fear of abandonment and insecurities. Opening your heart up and sharing yourself with another person can be scary, however it’s important to remember that honesty is not the same as vulnerability. Vulnerability involves acknowledging and confronting our fears and trusting someone despite the risk of rejection or hurt. However, it’s crucial to recognize that vulnerability should not be shared with individuals who have a history of abusive behavior.

6. Overwhelming emotions: whenever we communicate from a place of pain or heightened emotions it will spill out into everything we are doing. For instance, if someone feels they’re always getting in trouble at work then they may feel their spouse is picking on them. Or a person that feels misunderstood might get angry when their partner doesn’t acknowledge their hard work.

7. Romantic Expectations: the purpose of a relationship isn’t about making you feel loved and pumping up your self-esteem. What if the purpose of a relationship is having a companion and teammate to tackle life with? What if we weren’t meant to be perfect before a relationship? What if we just have to be humble enough to allow someone to see us in our mess? And what if we had enough unconditional love to love someone in their mess?

8. Lack of wisdom or maturity: you can communicate all you want, but if the other person doesn’t understand it won’t be effective. Sometimes we can’t understand a perspective of someone that has gone through something different than us. It takes maturity to acknowledge that understanding others requires listening and being open to new perspectives. Also it takes maturity to realize we can’t understand someone else.

9. Pride: there will be communication issues when someone thinks they know everything and there isn’t anything to learn.

Everyone has blindspots, including myself! That’s why it’s important for couples to work on creating a safe, patient, and kind environment to explore unknown parts of theirselves.

22 Signs You Are Marked by God

An individual that is marked by God is “strikingly noticeable” and “has a visible mark.

When others encounter someone that is marked, there is an immediate understanding that the marked person doesn’t conform to the rhythm of the world. They are unique and march to their own drum beat. Growing up, they often felt a need to be noticed for their individuality, colored outside the lines, and thought about everything in a unique out of the box way.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

22 Signs that God has Chosen you and Marked YOU

Here are 22 signs that God has chosen you and marked you for a POWERFUL purpose:

1. God Uses Your Uniqueness in Ministry

There is something VERY obviously different about you. What is it? That’s the secret ingredient God made you with, to STAND OUT. It’s probably an area that you’ve struggled to feel confident about OR that has come under attack. Why the attacks? Because When a marked person partners with God, together they make a POWERFUL combination. Because they are already so different, it makes it easier for God to use their specific qualities to make them shine even brighter.

God used the uniqueness of the characters in the Bible to minister:

  1. Esther’s unique beauty and purity made her an option to marry the King and save the Jewish nation.
  2. David’s short stature and young age made him a perfect option to show God’s strength in defeating Goliath.
  3. Ruth’s loyalty to stay with her mother in law led her to a new land and she was able to meet her Boaz.
  4. Paul’s passion for God was expressed in killing Christians, but God encountered this fiery man and redeemed his unique gift to spread Christianity.
  5. Solomon’s wisdom was used to inspire so much of our biblical instructions!

2. You Are An Ambassador

As someone marked by God, you are called to advertise God and be an ambassador for Christ. This means representing God’s character in everything you do and say. It’s not just about outward appearances (what you wear or where you go), but about reflecting His love, integrity, power, and righteousness in your daily life.

An ambassador is someone who acts as a representative, bringing the message of their leader to others. 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” As we work to bring others to God, the world might hate us because we are not of this world, just as they hated Jesus. In John 17:14-15, Jesus explains, “I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world… I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.”

3. You’re Prophetic

You hear God VERY clearly about your own life and the lives of the people around you. He trusts you with the private details of people’s lives because you have integrity, you love others, and you’re called to prayer. (FYI, you can hear God clearly through the wisdom in the scriptures.) The Bible describes this beautifully in John 15:15, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

4. You’re Focused

You are not focused on status, wealth, or power. Your main goal is to please God, not to gain the approval of the people around you. You love and honor others, but you try not to be a people-pleaser because God’s opinion matters the most to you.

The Bible describes this beautifully in 2 Timothy 2:4, “No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.” And, Galatians 1:10: “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

5. You’re Open to Correction

You are aware that only God knows the depth of wickedness that can be hidden within your heart. So, you constantly ask him to search it and make it a worthy space for the Holy Spirit to live. The Bible describes this beautifully in Jeremiah 17:9-10, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”

6. You’re Repentant

When God reveals your heart, you don’t runaway from the pain and blame others for what’s inside of you. You allow your sins to be highlighted and you feel a deep sorrow (not condemnation) for disappointing God. The Bible describes this beautifully in 2 Corinthians 7:10, “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”

7. You’re Unique

You don’t conform to the wickedness, lukewarmness, selfishness, vanity, and pride that the world tries to corrupt believers with. Instead you display the love, integrity, humility, forgiveness, power, and righteousness of God.

The Bible describes this beautifully in 2 Timothy 2:22-26, “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.”

8. Your Relationships Reflect Christ

You work very hard to have a holy marriage/relationship, healthy friendships, and love everyone around you. You aren’t putting on a show or living a double life. Instead, you are truly putting in the hard work to live at peace with your enemies. You strive to have healthy communication and you are esteemed by the people around you. The Bible describes this beautifully in the following scriptures:

  • Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.1 Peter 2:12
  • “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
  • “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4
  • “Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.” 1 Timothy 3:2-7

11. You Are Wise

You are humble and understand that you don’t know everything and can’t fix everything in the natural realm. During hardships and obstacles, you get down on your knees and cry out to God for his revelation and help. The Bible describes this beautifully in the following scriptures:

  • Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24

Father, open my mind and spirit to your discipline, pruning, and direction. I ask that I be stripped of pride, idolatry, lust, and any ways of the flesh that would cause selfishness and childish behavior in my current and future relationships. I ask that my character be grounded and rooted in the likeness of Christ. I rejoice, Father, because you are moving on my behalf. I look forward to the day when I get to serve you alongside my helpmate. Amen.

  • But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Prayer to Find a Godly Woman

Heavenly Father,

I come before you with a heartfelt desire to find a godly woman, one whom you approve of. I ask for your guidance in this search, that you would make it unmistakably clear to me if a woman is not aligned with your spiritual will.

Lord, grant me divine revelation through mentors, dreams, visions, signs, and prophetic words regarding the different options before me. Help me to discern beyond outer appearances and behaviors, allowing me to see the character a woman possesses.

Guard my heart, Father, and protect me from prematurely falling in love with someone who may not be the right match for me. Keep me from awakening love at the wrong time with the wrong person. I rejoice in the belief that you will prevent me from unintentionally leading someone on or investing time in a relationship not ordained by you.

Abba, I eagerly anticipate meeting a woman who is on a journey of purification and righteousness, just like myself. I pray that she would willingly submit to your leadership, allowing you to strip away pride, trauma, idolatry, and any worldly behaviors that might hinder her connection with you.

I am confident, Lord, that my future wife will possess qualities such as joy, patience, kindness, repentance, and forgiveness. May our union be a testimony to your grace and purpose.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Scripture Reference:

  • An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. Proverbs 31:10-31
  • He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22

An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones. Proverbs 12:4

Prayer for a Beautiful Wife

Eternal Father,

I turn to you in my quest to find a wife, asking for your guidance and wisdom. Help me to be drawn to her inner beauty even more than her outward appearance. I long to pursue a woman whose spirit radiates a beauty that takes my breath away.

Grant me discernment and a Godly perspective to recognize the unique beauty you have instilled within her. As I pray, I ask that she continues to grow in the image of Christ. May any supernatural obstacles she faces be canceled, exposed, and overcome by your divine power.

I am grateful that you are strengthening her inner self and guiding her towards her God-given purpose. Thank you, Father, for removing any individuals who may seek to corrupt her heart with worldly influences.

I pray that you continue to lead her towards repentance and forgiveness, softening her heart to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and the people around her.

Lord, I am excited about the work you are doing to prepare her heart to love and desire a man like me. I humbly submit myself to you and ask that both of us become beautiful on the inside, marveling at the transformation you’ve wrought in our lives and hearts.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Scripture Reference:

  • Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct. Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, 1 Peter 3:1-6
  • Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Colossians 3:18

The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:11-12

Prayer to Love My Future Wife

Heavenly Father,

I come before you with a humble heart, asking you to search my innermost being for any traces of pride, idolatry, immaturity, or selfishness. I seek a clean heart that can endure and love my future wife through life’s challenges.

Grant me the strength to pursue her relentlessly and the grace to forgive her when difficulties arise. I pray for perseverance, self-control, and discipline to love even when my feelings waver.

Thank you, God, for teaching me to love unconditionally, without hidden motives, even when it’s tough, and when others may not meet my needs. I trust in your perfect timing, Lord, and I release any rush prompted by age or worldly motivations.

I place my faith in your divine timeline and ask for the patience to wait for your best. I desire a marriage that honors you, Lord, more than a hasty union. I surrender to your timing and pray for the patience to wait for your perfect plan to unfold.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

6 Lessons from Bible Verses About Reputation!

The Bible commands men to have a reputation of Holiness. In fact, 1 Peter 2:12 explains that a man with a Holy reputation has the power to lead others to glorify or believe in God.

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”

What is Reputation?

Reputation is “a widespread belief that someone or something has a particular habit or characteristic,” according to Oxford Languages.

The biblical meaning of reputation is represented in a man who carries the attributes of God: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NIV)

Essentially, “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” Peter 2:12 (NIV)

Who had a bad reputation in the Bible?

Judas has a bad reputation in the Bible because he betrayed Jesus. It’s interesting because all the disciples dishonored Jesus in some way. But, Judas never repented. Peter felt remorse for denying Jesus. Paul stopped killing Christians. Paul and Peter repented for their sins. In fact, their change in behavior is what makes their story so remarkable. Anyone can change their reputation if they repent and change their behavior.

6 Lessons From Bible Verses About Reputation

1. Seek To Honor God Over People:

Choosing to practice a holy lifestyle is the best way to honor God. Sometimes that will cause us to be in a sticky situation. Should you curse with the men and women around you? Or, should you engage in sexually lustful conversations because the other men and women are? Should you allow the opinion of a leader to contradict what’s in the Bible? No! Don’t ever sin because you fear rejection and you want people to like you.

Truthfully, when you have a good reputation it doesn’t mean that everyone will like you. You can do everything right and people may still dislike you. Jesus is the BEST example of a good reputation. He did everything with integrity, honesty, kindness, love, and wisdom. Yet, people still found fault in him and He ended up on the cross.

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

2. Pursue the Characteristics that Leads to a Good Reputation:

Do you have the characteristics of a godly man? These traits will help you earn the esteem of others. Here are 7 characteristics of someone with a good reputation:

  • He pleases God with a pure heart and fears and respects God. He understands that God exalts the humble and disciplines the proud, as seen in 1 Samuel 13:14: “The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart.”
  • He repents and apologizes when he does wrong. As 1 John 1:10 says, “If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”
  • He lives according to God’s Word and isn’t a hypocrite. James 1:22 reminds us, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
  • He seeks God’s heart and wisdom above all else, asking for guidance as James 1:5 encourages: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God.”
  • He listens to others and seeks understanding instead of engaging in prideful arguments. Proverbs 18:2 says, “A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.”
  • He thinks before he speaks, corrects his errors, and remains open and transparent, aiming for continual growth.
  • He treats everyone with kindness, patience, and love, speaking the truth in love, as Ephesians 4:15 calls us to do.

3. Your Reputation Should Separate You From The Crowd:

Your reputation should be so pure and clean that you should shine even among other Christians. Similarly, Jesus stood out among others. He was a model of what true righteousness was.

In fact, Jesus was so pure and righteous that His presence revealed jealousy, pride, and wickedness within the hearts of the Pharisees. This isn’t a bad thing, if the sinners repent once their hearts are exposed.

Jesus said: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:18-19

4. You Should be Known for Patience, Compassion, Gentleness, and Kindness

Pleasing GOD and seeking His Kingdom to invade earth is the GOAL. As you accomplish this goal you should NOT build a reputation as someone that continually finds fault and criticizes others, without mercy and grace. Everyone deserves a safe place to mature – as they grow out of sin and into God. Control and harsh judgments doesn’t change anyone’s heart even if you have the BEST intentions for their soul.

We can be patient and compassionate with other’s sin and still hate sin. “And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will” 2 Timothy 2:22-26

Think of God’s patience with the disciples. The Son of God stood before them and they still had trouble believing. And still, Jesus wasn’t offended or controlling. He continued to teach, correct, and build them up so they could stand strong in maturity later. Ultimately, Jesus died for sinners not to make “perfect” people feel even holier. A factor in His death was the difficulty people had escaping the grasp of Satan. We needed supernatural help (Holy Spirit).

5. You don’t need to defend your reputation.

The bible says that you should keep a good reputation, but you don’t have to defend your reputation.

Here are some stories about reputation in the Bible where God defended their reputation in the midst of judgment or fear:

  • Joseph nearly left Mary because he was probably ashamed His wife was impregnated by the “Holy Spirit.” An Angel had to tell him not to be afraid. Matthew 1:20 People probably made fun of him. It was probably hard for Joseph not to think Mary cheated on him.
  • Noah built his Ark while people laughed at him.
  • Job endured testing while His friends accused him of being sinful.
  • Joseph’s brothers thought he was lying when He had the dream that he’d rule over them.
  • Moses risked looking like a crazy zealot when He rebuked Pharaoh.
  • Jesus allowed the Pharisees to lead him to His death because they thought lowly of him.

Ultimately, God’s will protect your reputation. Focus on standing in faith and living righteously and in the right time God will restore your reputation. Everytime God’s plan was fully revealed it destroyed Satan’s attempt. For instance, Noah endured shame but when it started to rain, I bet no one was laughing anymore.

Therefore, “repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:17-21

6. Gain Favor With God rather than hoard Earthly Treasures

David was a KING. He had gold, armies, and everything known to mankind. But, He had a reputation with God as being “a man after [God’s] own heart.” 1 Samuel 13:14

Similarly, the Bible encourages us to pursue a good reputation by gaining approval from God. He doesn’t want us to be mostly known as people with things, education, money, etc. We can have things while on earth, but they shouldn’t be our BEST or LOUDEST achievements.

A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.” proverbs 22:1

Before David was King, He understood that pleasing God would take him where he needed to go. He didn’t have to people-please, sin, lie, or stress himself out trying to get anything.

Remember, “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Psalms 37

7. You’re a Role Model

You seek to be an example for others. You are the same behind close doors as you are in public — you don’t have hidden sin. Overall, children and spiritually young believers view you as an example of living a righteous life.

In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.Titus 2:7-8 (NIV)

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)
